Evia is the second biggest island in Greece. Its population, according to the cencus of 2001 is 215.316 people. The length of its coasts is 678km. The Municipality of Evia includes the island of Skyros as well as other small islands. Evia is the island of variety. Its north part is green and fertile with numerous, indigenous plants, while the south part is infertile and rocky. The historical and pre-historical wealth of the island is surprising. In Kerasia of North Evia, you can visit the museum of paleontological findings. Aedipsos is also known from the ancient times for the healing properties of its water and sources. At the museums of Halkida, Eretria and Skyros you will find prehistoric and historical exhibits. The whole Evia is filled with Byzantine monuments, Venetian Towers and remnant of various historical periods. In South Evia, you can visit the unique dragon-houses.
